  3.     TIME reported (NATION, Nov. 27) that President Bush "has
  4. confided to relatives that Richard Nixon phones every few days
  5. to fill him in on his latest speech, article or trip." This is
  6. false. Having held the highest office, the former President is
  7. acutely aware of the number of people who compete for the Chief
  8. Executive's attention. He does not want to add to that burden
  9. by placing phone calls. On those occasions when Nixon and
  10. President Bush have spoken or met, the contact was initiated by
  11. President Bush or his representatives.
